Plan B is an emergency contraceptive that can prevent pregnancy and is intended to be used within 72 hours (three days) following known or suspected contraceptive failure or unprotected intercourse.

Treatment should not be delayed as efficacy may decline with an increased interval between intercourse and the start of the treatment.
